Hello Fellas

I just bought me a used Z71 that has a 5.7L in it and I did not
notice that it smoked a little when I bought it. I am tring to figure out why it is smoking.
This is what I know about the truck.
It has the catalytic converter removed!
It has 254000 miles on it.
At the tip of the exhaust it does not appear to have any oil on it.
It does seem that the smoke is maybe from moisture as there is moisture at the tip of the exhaust.
when first starting it up after it has been sitting for a few hours it takes a few seconds to start.
I am wondering if this is something to be very concerned about or if it is maybe a bad head gasket where the antifreeze is leaking into the
cylinders or something like that.
Anyone have any ideas?

Do a compression check as the first step.

Moisture at the tailpipe is totally normal.

Keep track of how much oil it using. Sounds like you might be about due for an engine.

everyone is saying time for a new engine but no one knows what color this "smoke" is. if its blueish then its oil....white...give a sniff...if it smells sweet then its coolent....if neither then just moisture n dont worry bout it

It was a very light smoke and I drove it a lot this weekend and did not see it anymore. I'm hoping it is just moisture. Thanks jgray
