hello, i'm new here but wanted a little help. i have been shopping around for a truck...mainly dodge. but i searched for a chevy 1500 the other day. and what i found i loved. It is a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 14" suspension lift and a 4" body lift (18" lift) and big 40" MT Dick Cepek tires and 20" incumpus wheels. 4x4 of course. all it really needs is a tailgate handle. it has a 15" sub in the back with 1000 watt amp. it has a 4.8L vortec with 145,732 miles. it gets 12 mpg. its relatively close to me. i was wonder if his asking price of $6500 is a good deal??? please help. and if it is...is there any performance mods i can do to increase mpgs?? like CAI programmer/chip/tuner?? i love the lift, don't wanna take it off at all. thank you for reading!!

The truck doesn't look bad, and I has decently low miles for a 99 that's for sure. Go meet him, drive it around, see what it can do around town and see if everything is mechanically sound. No knocks, creaks, bumps, anything like that. look underneath and see if there's caked on mud, if so, he's probably abused it a little. Ask him what gears are in it, check the interior, put it in 4wd and see if it works right. Do all the little things you can think of. 6500 isn't bad though, Ive had people offer me 11k for mine and it's not as big, and has 201k on the clock, but I keep it really clean. Gets a bath all the time, and I don't beat on it at all.

Seems a little high on the mpg calculation. Especially with a 4.8 and probably stock gears. I get 13 with a 5.3 on 35s and 3.73 gears in town, with performance mods to help get it goin. If you do buy it though, there's tons of performance mods to do to that truck it's unreal.

yea i'd really like to go meet him and drive it and everything. i just have to see what my mom thinks of it as well. and if she says yes then i'll go. and yea the mgp is gonna be really bad. but imma do whatever i can to help that if i can get it. and thanks again. and good!! lol i'm glad there's a lot that can be done!

Just buy the damn thing lol better MPG get MT off nd get street tires the same size Craigslist people will trade I paid 3k for same truck less tires and mines z71 so has a lift replaced motor and od reading 260k but that's off od is not from truck but I live GM so buy it
