2000 5.3 wont shift past second!

2000 5.3 wont shift past second!
Hey guys. Just joined the form today! I just bought a 2000 1/2 ton with the 5.3. On the way home the transfer case blew itself apart 
Due to the straight axle and 10" of lift the truck runs a 241c transfer case out of an old 5.7 suburban. Put a new one in and I think that the speed sensor is bad on it. There is no speedometer and it will shift only 1st 2nd and reverse. Any idea on if i have to run the stock speed sensor or the one from the suburban? Thanks in advance!
