My father just bought an '02 2500 4x4 with the 8.1 and the allison transmission, it was delivered today from florida. The problem is that the transmission does not shift, he bought this on ebay talked to the guy everyday and the guy assured him that the truck went through all the checks and was serviced regularly, as a matter of fact he had the whole truck checked over before he loaded it on the shipping truck. The speedo does not work and the abs, check engine and park brake lights are all on. Just wondering what your guys thoughts were on this, thank you in advance

Oh also the truck only has 130k on it never had a 5th wheel or gooseneck, and the guy has a hypertech programmer on it, i've already returned the tune back to stock and still the same symptoms, the battery is also a little weak, don't know if that matters with these trucks or not, thanks again

If the speedo doesnt work that will cause it to not shift being that the ECU doesnt see that its moving, speed sensor in the trans for that one, or maybe they ripped a wire off transporting it somehow.
Its hard to say what exactly is wrong causing all the lights to be on, but one of those causes is most likely why it wont shift, not a problem with the transmission itself.
Try a reset of the ECU, then youll have to get it scanned to see what codes are coming up.

thanks racer, i had the same thought on the shipping company maybe getting a wire pulled off loading it or unloading it on the truck. The truck runs a 315 tire so i'm not sure if that would mess with the abs light or not
