Default 2005 engine swap for rookie

I have a 2005 1500 Silverado with the 4.8 engine. The truck has 275,000 miles but is in excellent shape. Except for the engine. The oil pump is failing, which I've been told is common for these trucks. I don't think its worth putting the money in this old engine. I can get a 5.3 out of a 2001, but I'm not sure it will work. Does anyone know if this will fit and bolt up to my truck and transmission. If so, what should I expect to have to change if anything. If not what engines will fit. I have a very small budget for this. Thanks

Yea the 5.3 will bolt right in. you will need to flash your ecm or get one with your engine.
