Default 2005 silverado a/c electrical problems

I own a 2005 Silverado with a 5.3L. It is 2wd with ext cab. The A/C will work fine as long as the blower switch is set to 5. The blower works perfectly with no issues. However if the switch is set to 4 or below the compressor will shut off after 10 minutes. To get it to work again I have to pull over, shut the key off and open the door to shut everything off. When I start the truck it works instantly. I completely evacuated the system, put it under a vacuum for a few hours and recharged the system. Could this be the BCM? There are a few other electrical problems, the door chime is very faint, etc.

Check with the dealer to see if there is a recall.

They reimbursed me over 700$.

I checked the NTSB. There are no recalls for my truck. Did your AC do the same thing?

Oh, yeah. You can bump the wiring on the passenger-side firewall

(with passenger's foot) to jog it for a while.

The wiring harness went- I had to have them go back in,

because they didn't replace it all the first time. Then the

Resistor, climate control panel, and fan motor all went.

But I do long, straight-thru drives to Canada, semi-annually. So

the climate control is blasting away with A/C on high for 16 to 22

hours at a time. Wiring ran over 700$, resistor, CC,and blower,

another 700$. If you just get wiring, and all the other gear done at once,

maybe you can save part of the repeated labor charges, and get

it done for @ 1200$.

On a bright note, aside from normal wear and tear, this truck, new

from the dealer, hasn't had any other remarkable issues.

BTW- the fan high position is the default, when the system starts having issues.

Just leave it turned up high, and manipulate all the other controls, like the A/C

switch, and the temperature control, in order to use the unit. Not ideal but

minimally functional.
