OK, my Siverado still has the wine in drivetrain. Answer me this? With the Ebrake on and the truck in nuetral - get under truck and see how much your driveshaft will turn. Mine will turn about 45 degrees. That seems like I have some slack somewhere. Or is this normal?

I have a 99 z71 and even though the years are different 45 degress seems a little much. I have some slack but it barely moves. I'm afraid to say it but i think you're looking at some problems. Maybe take the drive shaft off the the differential(make sure you don't lose your caps on the u joints)and take the cover off the pumpkin and have somone turn the yoke back and forth while you check out the gears to see if you can see whats going on. Hope you figure it out.

this is a good idea. but the problem might be as simple as bad u-joints, when you pull the driveshaft, as said be carefull not to drop the caps because the bearings will fall out. then wiggle them to see how loose they are

truck has 20,ooo miles. It is not the u joints. It might be the limited slip in the rear end. I am going by classic chevy when it quits raining. I need to get some Nitrogen for my tires.
