2014 Silverado 1500 CHMSL wiring
There's an older thread on this subject, connecting the center high brake light on a cap / camper shell / topper to the truck's wiring, but the answer seems to change fairly often over the years, and the thread hasn't been added to since 2007.
I just bought a 2014 Silverado 1500 W/T and, with a little modification to the cap, was able to fit the one from my old 2002 Silverado.
I've found two answers specific to the 2014. One is that you need to find the orange wire in the taped bundle behind the brake pedal and run a wire from there to the rear of the bed. The second, http://tinyurl.com/pcsahuq, shows a purple/grey wire in the harness on the rear axle you can tap into.
Before I crawl around any further under there, I was wondering if anyone else around here might have some insight on this. Thanks!

Well, after spending an hour in the driveway on my back under my rear axle studying the 30-pin connector (it was starting to snow and my garage is my workshop) and comparing what I was seeing to the picture posted here http://tinyurl.com/pcsahuq (Leer says it's a purple/grey wire, I was looking at a white/blue one and thinking "don't do it. don't do it.") I decided to call the place that put the topper on the old truck 12 years ago and see what they wanted to do it. Seventy bucks. Had it done this morning. They installed a module that hooks up to both brake light circuits, canceling out the turn signals, did it in 45 minutes, works fine.
So that's the answer I came up with!
