Default 265/70/r17 tire choice?

I've got an 08 ext cab silverado z71 4x4 with a 2" leveling kit and a 2" rear block, I'm running Maxxis Bighorns 285/70/r17 8ply and they are killing my gas mileage and my 17x9 steel wheels are impossible to balance with these and again killing my gas mileage avg 11mpg, I'm looking into getting Nitto Terra grapplers in a smaller size hoping it will increase my mpgs, does anyone have suggestions or pictures? I want it to still look aggressive and perform that way as well. 265/70/r17 tire choice?-chevy.jpg

Size isn't killin your mileage. They aren't that much bigger than stock tire sizing. The tread pattern is probably the culprit, along with the weight of the tire/rim combo. Get a custom tune and that will help out. I've got 35s and 20x12s with around 7" of lift and get 13-14 because of supporting mods

I appreciate it, I want to go a bigger size it's just the expense. My Wheels are steel but hopefully using an all terrain will help with the problem. Where do you suggest a custom tune? I have an edge fusion on their right now but in all honesty that programmer is no good I've contempolated moving to super chip

A 285-70-17 BFG all terrain or nitto terra grappler will help out. The tread pattern isn't as aggressive. Look into the toyo AT2s as well. They're a new all terrain that just come out. And I suggest blackbear or Wheatley custom tunes to help you. Programmers are no better than a stock truck because they just extend the shifts. They're very generic cause not all trucks are the same
