4x4 Conversion

4x4 Conversion
Hi there! I'm currently restoring a 1979 Chevy C/K 1500 pickup regular cab short box. It has a 350ci motor that needs rebuilt but I may try to find a different motor. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is a rwd truck. So I was wondering how hard it would be to convert it to 4x4? I have found a 1979 Chevy C/K 2500 Scottsdale pickup that has a working 4x4. So first off I was wondering if that would work as a donor truck for mine. If it is, I want to know what I need to swap from that truck to convert it. Thanks!

It's no picnic.
Everything on the truck has to be changed over except the box. Just about every rivet in the frame will need to be cut and the 4x4 cross members bolted back in. You really don't want to go there.
I did this to my 'new' '78 back in about 1980. Took me two solid weeks and $2K which was a lot of money back then.
It's way easier to just swap pickups.
