Well guys, I am a little excited now. I found this Vin decoder for Chevrolet trucks

81-87 Pickup Chassis Identification

Its pretty cool. I also found out from the dealer that my truck is a Custom Deluxe, and being that the 8th character of my vin is "M" that means that it is a non-catalyst or requires no emissions equipment. I am pretty siked about that. It also came from the factory with true duals from the manifolds back. The vin decoder also says that my truck is equipped with the HD 350 V8? Not sure what the difference is between that and a regular 350. 4 front shocks, and 9 leaves per stack in the back. Rides like an old wooden roller coaster on gravel. Someone replaced the bed at somepoint because I found a huge gooseneck plate under the one thats on it........now I have to get a trailer.....lol.

I am trying to get some help from you guys though.

I have never really worked on an older truck before, I also posted this about a week ago, but I have more information now.

My drum brakes in the rear lock up extremely too easy. All I have to do is touch my brake pedal and screeeeech! I bled all the brakes, and the front brakes are working. the rotors are shiny and warm after a good drive and the fluid pressure at the calipers is very strong. I have two possibilities so far that have been explained to me. 1 person said that there is a way to adjust them, and another person told me that someone may have put the shoes on the wrong sides......something like the large shoe up front instead of in the rear of the drum?????

Any further information on that would be great.

Secondly, I want to run headers, and a 3" exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers, but my buddy (builds mustangs) said that I should only go 2.5"? Is 3" too large?

1 more thing. My fuel gauge doesn't work so I bought a Haynes manual and go figure there is no information regarding the sending unit, or the wiring diagram.
