Default 95 z71 w/305 need help with motor issues.

i'm a newbie to this site, and to chevy's i've owned jeeps all my life and i just traded an old junker car for this 95 z71.

it had a blown head gasket when i got it so i replaced it and did all necessary things to get it back to good running condition; ie: adjusted valves, played with timing and so forth. after everything was done i cranked it i had a few small probs, but the engine planed itself out. then the valves on the driver side started tapping and it went to crap.

so i adjusted the valves again. it smoothed out and now i have no power at all. engine revs up fine but when i put it in drive it has very little acceleration when i give it ample gas.

any ideas on what to look for?

i had/still have the same problem with my 94. i replaced the fuel filter, coil, cap and router, sparkplugs. and did a compresion test. and it still lacks power on acceleration. i would also check the intake gaskets. im going to replace mine this weekend cause i think theres a leak in the gaskets so its sucking in to much air.

That could be part of it to. Are you using a timing light? Mine was at 4 degrees an I changed it to 0(that what its suppose to be at) but then it ran like crap so I changed it back to 4 an it runs better but still has a miss
