My truck is a 98 Silverado K1500 4x4 with the Vortec 5.7. I have had a CEL for maybe a year now and it has been the rear O2 sensors. One day my truck didn't want to start as easy as it always had. Checked fuel pressure and it was a bit low. Replaced the fuel pump and truck starts up and runs just like before. Maybe a month later it starts idling rough. Read the CEL code and it is the O2 sensors and a P0306 code. I replaced both O2 sensors, plugs, wires, cap and rotor button. Now all I have is a P0300 CEL. I have checked the fuel pressure and it jumps right up where it is suppose to and after I turn the truck off it held the same pressure for over 15 min. I read somewhere on the web that the distributor gear can cause this problem and is somewhat common with this year model motor. I pulled the distributor and the gear appears to be fine. It doesn't look wore much at all really. I have also read that it may be the CSFI and it may be fixed by going to the new system. I really want to narrow it down before I drop $350 on the new fuel injection system and it not be the problem.
