I have a 99' Silverado Z71 that is now displaying "Service 4WD" in the Message Center. Front, Rear and Transfer Case have recently been serviced, but yet the message continues to pop up. Any thoughts on what is causing this? Is it something that needs to be reset now that service has been performed. I did notice the last time I had it in 4WD it didn't pop back into 2WD the first time the button was pressed. Any insight into the cause of this would be greatly appreciated.

I have 3 Silverados ranging from a 1999, 1500 4x4 floor shift to 2001 1500 and 2500hd 4x4 with electronic shift. If this is a reacurring problem I'd start with the main ground which is located under the drivers door outside frame looking forward. Check and clean the ground wires and tighten bolt back securely and paint to protect. Then remove and clean all connections, front diff, transfer case motor, etc. If you still have a problem the most likely part is the 4x4 module located behind dash on the left side, next is the tx motor on the transfer case and then the dash switch. Many people believe the switch is the main problem but after many years of having these trucks the switch has never been the problem.
