Default adding factory options

2000 gmc sierra, base model

anyone know if the wiring harness connectors would be present for options the truck didn't come with? I want to add cruise, power mirrors and remote keyless entry.

I just got the truck and haven't pulled anything apart yet. I know the wiring wasn't present for my 2005 car but I'm hoping it still there for a 2000.

Good question, my 95 1500 has a wiring harness with connectors for more options than what came with the vehicle.

Its just an opinion but it seems that you find more of the optional wiring harnesses in mid-level models rather than the base models...

Thanks Jeff. its an SL. Only option is a/c. Its old enough that all the systems aren't inter linked so I hoping all it takes is bolting on the parts and reprogramming. I"ll dig into it this weekend.

Quick look under the hood today. the cruise control module connector is there so I'm betting the other connectors are there too. Now to find a donor vehicle.

installed a remote control door lock module today; the wiring was there. Will try to program a fob tomorrow...will find out if it needs bcm reprogramming!

for anyone wanting to add remote keyless entry to a new body style 2000 to 2006 p/u... I can confirm that this does work. all that was needed was:

-install a remote control door lock module from a donor vehicle ...$10 from pick and pull(the wiring harness is present)
-reprogram the existing bcm programming...choose the vehicle build for the remote keyless entry option...most dealers would charge 1hr labour.
-program the fobs

Great news. I learned the hard way that you cant do the same for fog lights. Yes the opening is there for the relay in the power control center and the cargo/fog switch will drop in, but there are no wires out to the front bumper for the lights themselves. The entire harness from the firewall to the PCC and around to the passenger side bulkhead connector would have to be swapped from a donor truck. GM wants $750 for the harness and most yards don't like to pull the harness for you. Pick-n-pull may be different but there aren't many of those here in CT.

$750 for a harness...yikes...they can keep it.
