Default air intake tube question

i want to change the intake tube on my truck and keep the same air box
however i dont like the 121$ price tag on the airaid intake tube
i was looking on ebay and saw they some some relitively cheap air intakes so i started thinking can i buy one of those kits and hook the tube up to my stock air box?
or do i have to just buy the airaid one?
thanks in advance guys

sidenote: i already have a spectre air filter which i recomend over k&n only because its the same thing and instead of paying 60$+ for the k&n i only paid 27$

What year truck is this? And yeah you can buy the whole intake off eBay and use just the tube, if it's cheaper I'd do that

its a 1999 silverado 2500 with the 6.0 its the same body style as the 2000-07
and awsome the cheap kits off of ebay are around 60$ compared to the 121$ tube and i also like the fact of keeping the stock box sence that is a true cia just the tube is restrictive the main reason that im doing this is to dress up under the hood and help the motor breath better im not looking for gains out of a simple tube swap

1 more question when changeing out the tube and keeping the stock air box does it give that growl that move cai do or is it simular to stock if does have that growl then its a plus for me

I have the exact setup you're goin to do lol. Stock box with a CAI tube, and I cut out the bottom left section in a triangle piece right behind the headlight for more airflow, and mine growls more than a CAI
