Default auto 4x4

Hello all i have a 2000 sierra with push button 4x4. When i put it into auto mode it works fine i can feel it kick in when the back wheels spin but when i go to make a u turn i can feel it hop like its in full time 4 wheel drive. I am wondering what could be causing this. my 98 tahoe or my 2007 tahoe does not do this so im a little confused on what could be happening. I dont have any dash lights on and my abs is working like it should any suggestions on what to check for would be great thanks

If I'm not mistaken when you put it in auto 4wd it engages when the back tires slip but does not disengage until you click 2hi to manually do it
