2003 Silverado V8 yesterday my battery light came on following a message "battery not charging" eventually the truck would not start that was not a surprise. Naturally my first thought is the alternator which I knew was going out soon based on a test I had ran on it a fee months ago so I replace it with a brand new one, charge up the battery to 100%. Everything works fine...except I'm still receiving the "battery not charging" message its only a matter of time before the battery is drained again I don't know what else would be causing this I start a new job on Monday and really need to have this issue fixed please help.

Did you load test the battery? They do (albeit rarely) short internally.

Time for a new battery...especially since your alternating wasn't giving it a full charge until you replaced it.

I took the battery to AutoZone they said it was a good battery its only 2 years old I'm not sure if they load test it though.
