Default Bilstein 5100's or Bilstein HD's

My 2003 Silverado 1500 needs new shocks. From info on forum I suggested to my mechanic that he use the 5100's. He came back to me and said the 5100's are only for trucks that have been lifted...Mine has NOT been lifted.
He then suggested that for non lifted , we go with the Bilstein HD's. Since I am not sure if I will ever "lift" up, I now am not sure which shock to go with.
I've already gotten great feedback on this forum for the 5100"s. Can anyone out there give me feedback on the HD's? your truck non lifted or not?
Has anyone put 5100's on a non lifted truck. I assume my mechanic (who owns a Ford 150), knows what' he's talking about.
any feedback to help is appreciated.

If he owns a Ford how could he possibly know what he's talking about?

I've not used the 5100's, but had the HD's on my 2005 Z71. They were a bit stiffer than the OEM's. Especially empty, but the handled better and were great loaded down or with a trailer.

I run the HD's on my 05. I suggest them to everyone who asks about shocks. You wont be disappointed.

5100s have a set for non lifted trucks, i guess technically they're for a levelin kit. But the shock range is from 0-2.5" of lift in the front and a set for the back that has a range of 0-1" of lift. 5100s= best shock made
