most of the stuff they will re-use. But there should be a new oil pump and new water pump but they should re-use the intake, injectors, manifold. alt. and so on. not sure maybe a gm tech will have a better answer. Glad you are getting a new motor.

New block, oil pan and pump, sometimes valve covers. Everything else transfers.

What parts are referred to as sheet metal?

They found a motor, but said it will take at least a week. Said something about the supplier having to ship it to Michigan and then here. Is the supplier possibly a contracted manufacturer of the motor?

Motor surprisingly showed up this morning already. The mgr called it a GM Goodwrench remanufactured motor.(reman-new) I didn't like hearing that, but he claims internals are all new and cylinders aren't bored or sleeved. I don't really understand why they call it reman, because they said it's not rebuilt.

Anyone have any experience with a GM reman? do I have anything to worry about?

Almost every replacement motor is a reman unit. At work we always use dealer engines and transmissions. They give the best warranty. Never really had a problem.

Dealer engines? Is that different from the GM reman or the same thing?

I stopped at shop. I sure wouldn't know a reman from a new one by looking at it. Looked new to me from the outside. Valve covers, oil pan and timing cover came on this one.
