Default cat question

99 silverado I have 3in pipes i was thinking about cleaning out cat I live in FL and not smog laws but will I lose back pressure

You don't want back pressure.

You do want some back pressure. Without any at all you'll burn up your valves. If there's a muffler on it your good but without a muffler or cats your valves will burn and you'll lose compression

^ correct. Only want some. So keep a muffler on it, don't run compete straights with no cats or muffler.

you want scavenging not backpressure (close but they're different) and smog state or not you'd be better off getting a high flow cat.

Don't get me wrong, i've cut mine off. But I cut them off for a reason. Both of them were clogged so when I gut em, a huge power increase came with it. It's not like that if nothing's wrong with em
