Lightbulb Choosing New Tires

New to buy new rubber in the up coming weeks.

2001 2500HD with the 6.6l 4x4, 120,000m.
Trying to stay stock with the LT245/75/16 LR E.
I do mostly sub urban driving with some back country roads mixed in. Live in the North east and usually have to drive in 2-4 inches of snow at time. BUT even with current tires at 3/32 I am having no problem with traction. Do have to tow 8,000lbs occasionally. Prob less than 500m a year.

Have had bad experiences with Wranglers before. Low wear millage and fuel eco was horrible.

Best prices I have seen are General's Grabber HTS, Kumo's Road venture APT, and Mastercraft Courser.

Opinions?

I will be looking at these when it comes time to buy tires: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

I can also get a good deal on factory take-offs which will most likely be the way I go. I would like nicer factory wheels for my truck.

I bought my truck used and it came with these tires: http://www.performancetread.com/hank...245-75r17.html

Mine are P rated tires but still combined exceed the GVW of the truck. I'll probably get close to 40,000 miles out of them.

I doubt that I would have bought them but for the money probably not a bad way to go - I really have no complaints about them.

Default Tires

If you are a member of Costco (or can become one), consider buying tires there. They are very up front with their pricing and all the 'extras' are INCLUDED - unlike with other places that promise low prices.

I have a two-wheel-drive 2004 Silverado 1500 (with 17-inch rims) and purchased a set of four Michelin X LT2 "all season" tires three years ago. They are AWESOME and much better than the Goodyear rubber that was on the truck when I bought it used in 2010.

They cost a bit more, but you get what you pay for.

I bought mostly Goodyear for a long time - I got real tired of the poor tread life I got out of them.
