I was wondering if there was a way to stop the continuous power to the cig lighter. I have a radar and GPS that I leave plugged in all the time and if I dont drive my truck for a day or so I can tell that it has drained my battery some.

I had thought about getting another cargo lamp switch to put in the blank space above the existing switch to have like a cut off for the cig lighter. Does anybody know if that would work or how I could go about doing that?

Why dont you just unplug the stuff when you leave the car? Much easier AND cheaper.

in regards to the power supply, Put in a double power supply harness and instal a switch in-line to shut off the power to the final outlets.

RacerX, I usually try to but alot of times I just simply forget. I figure putting it on a switch could help form a habit. Just like turning the keys off haha.
And GMfixer, how exactly would I go about that? my electrical experience doesnt go much further than hooking up radios and speakers!

with the new Power Supply harness, Carefully cut open the harness, cut ONLY ONE wire and install a switch that can withstand 15 amps. But it would be easier just to unplug it when not in use. Those two items that you are using shouldn't put that much of a drain on your battery overnight. Have you tested your battery to see how good it is? A good rule of thumb is "To replace your battery if it is 5 yrs. or older"...... even if you are not having any problems.

its probably a year and a half old. I also have an map running off of it witout a capacitor so that might be part of the problem, but i rarely have it turned up. Thanks for the help guys
