Exhaust for 2007 silverado
Hello, I am looking to put a new exhaust on my truck. Thinking either long tube or shorties, bolted to a muffler right at the collector. Would there be enough clearance and what would be a good muffler to run? I've heard FM 40's and hush thrush. Thanks

Muffler choice depends on what sounds you are looking for. Check some of the hot rod forums or youtube to make that choice. What I like in the sound of an engine probably is different from you like, to each their own.
What engine do you currently have?
As far as headers go do you plan on running the engine at high rpm's a lot?
Is the engine going to remain stock?
Are you going to flash the puter to get more HP/Torque?
Running a muffler right at the collector probably will not allow the exhaust to scavenge the gases well enough and might do more damage than good.

It has the 4.8. It's going to stock until I replace the engine. I'm prolly gonna leave the computer stock since I plan to swap engines. I'm looking for a deep rumble through the entire rev range.

Cut stock exhaust off and put muffler of your choice in its place. Long tube headers are the only ones that you'll see a benefit from, shorties don't do much if anything over stock manifolds. And with long tunes you'll need a tune for your truck to run right. As said, muffler at collector would do more harm that good, YouTube is your friend. Flowmaster actually will cause a loss is power as their design doesn't let the exhaust flow sufficiently. I recommend a straight through muffler. Magnaflow, borla, spintech, areoturbine, corsa if you have the cash etc.

i went with dynomax on my truck. sounded great. youtube everything under the sun and see what you like. i would just youtube "chevy 4.8 exhaust" and see what you like. and if the exhasut is meant for your truck you should have no clearance issues.

I upgraded mine with Magnaflow exhaust for about $700 and it gives a deeper sound throughout the whole rev range and some noticeable HP increase. And it looks very sporty with the dual pipes setup.

I also have the Dynomax. Chose this route because it is more inexpensive than the Magnaflow and Flowmaster. Got mine from Dynomax Exhaust|4WO. This exhaust has a nice rumble when accelerating and no drone at all.
