Default Fuel economy

I have an 08 Silverado 1500 W/T 4x4. I put a 2" leveling kit on it and threw on some 285/70r17 BFGoodrich A/T. I'm getting roughly 13.5 in town and 15 on the highway. So then I put a cold air intake on and put a tuner in for fuel economy and haven't really seen a difference. Is anyone else having this issue?

If you were expecting to see the gains they advertise or anywhere close to it then you were mistaken. The intake won't do much if anything without supporting mods. The programmer does literally nothin but adjust shift points and tire size. To see a real gain you would need a custom tune. Blackbear performance, gowheatley, Nelson, or a local tuner in your area

Wow. I get average of 17-18 mpg on road trips and an overall 14.5 average mpg out of my 2015 2500HD Z71 LT with snow plow prep package and a 6.0L in it. Even my '98 2500 with a 454 big block would get 16 mpg. Really sad that things haven't improved all that much, and doubly sad that a 1500, even with a 2" lift can't even match a 2500 that weighs in a lot more than a 1500.

Bigger tires can really destroy your gas mileage if you dont put a tune on afterwards. With my 2003 i get 22MPG on the stock tires and rims, along with a bedcover and bakckbear tune. A freind of mine has a 2004 with tires 3 inches taller than stock and gets maybe 14 if he is lucky. I have no idea why people put massive tires on their trucks and expect them to perform the way they did with the tires the truck was designed to have.
