Fuel pump push rod is stuck.

Fuel pump push rod is stuck.
I am a 58 year old female without a lot of knowledge when it comes to mechanics. I have an 85 chevy silverado (350) and the push rod is stuck and I can't get it out. Have tried needle nose pliers and de-greaser to no avail. Im not very strong and that might be part of my problem. Anyway, any advise will be welcomed. Thanks!
