Default Good Truck/Trade

Hello all, looking at getting a 92 z71. It would be a trade deal, the car I would be trading is a 99 saturn coupe with no problems. Except the car uses a little bit of oil and a few cosmetic problems. I need a truck for work, and if I have a truck I want it to be 4x4 and lifted. Do you think this would be a good trade? How is this truck in terms of reliability, mpg, , etc? I am not sure I would be getting the good end of the deal, but i like the truck. I don't want to get hosed! haha here is the ad.

haha ya its hit or miss. Ive gotten "hosed" on cars that look good, but mechanically not so much. That's what I get for buying a dodge though. And my current car is the opposite, no so pretty when I bought it, had to jump it, it smoked for 5 minutes then stopped and 0 problems since then.

So ya think this truck will run like it looks?
lol probably will have to keep looking.

you already have replaced the fuel cap and pressure sensor? (this is not the best place to post for mechanical help)

Hey 92z71,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

I've moved this thread to the proper section.

Please read the rules. Then go back and post an

introduction.

As to the topic, sight unseen, offhand I'd say make the trade,

all things being equal. The hidden costs you save yourself

make it worthwhile, and a truck has a much better utility

value than a car. Not to mention most trucks rack up

mileage better, if they're not beaten.

Downside-20YO "pig in a poke"

Upside- Almost bulletproof posi rear, and a hardy vehicle

which is dead-center of any parts mix.

Warning- check the glove box "service parts

information" sticker-ANYBODY can put "Z-71" DECALS

on the side of a truck. Be sure you see the Z71 RPO

code before you buy/trade.

also if I m going to trade any Saturn for a truck I am sure it is a 2wd truck. Additionally even if it is 4wd the transfer case or the linkage is probably busted so it wont engage in 4x4 when you want it to. Just a notion. I didnt see the ad but if it is in Massachusetts it is probably rusted out anyway.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Possibly, but AFAIK, a true 2WD Z71

is at the far end of the "extreme special order"

spectrum, and costs more than a standard

4WD model, so, IF it is truly a Z71,

and not just a half-ton truck with a couple

of decals, it will more than likely be 4WD.

Check those RPO codes, OP...

yea, but in the end of the day it still is a 20 year truck so if it was originally built as a 4wd there is no guarantee that it still works. For all we know the original guy removed the driveshaft when the front differential went bad? Northern cars are the worst.

I m not sure what I would trade for a saturn coupe.
