Heater hose quick connect replacement
Hey, I am a new member and can't believe how much info there is on this forum. It's been very helpful. I have a question about a common topic that I can't seem to get a straight answer on. I have a 1989 Silverado 4x4 with the tbi 5.7. I was looking over it today, trying to make sure it's in good shape before school starts while I have time for maintenance. I looked at the heater hose quick connect the wrong way and it started leaking. I replaced the plastic coupler. Still leaking. I've replaced the fitting three times already and am sick of it so I bought heater hose and a dorman 1/2 npt to 5/8 fitting to replace the quick connect crap. I've read on forums that you need to put a restrictor in the fitting so you don't overheat the engine. The fitting I.D. looks to be 3/8 in. Anyone done this mod and had any overheating problems?

Correction, its a 1/2 npt to 3/4 in hose fitting. I'm surprised no one responded, I thought this was a common upgrade to eliminate the quick connect.
