How do I change my headlights in my 97 silverado?
Hello..
I just bought a 1997 Chevy Silverado this past December
and I'm trying to replace the stock headlights, it'll be my first project.
The new lights I bought are compatible, but I've never done this before
on any vehicle.
Any help would be appreciated, I really want to replace them myself.

Also, I have a guard rail in the front.
I don't think it'll be a problem when replacing my lights?

Nice truck you got there man. Replacing the headlights will be easy.
The grille guard will have to come off
Take the parking lights out which is just 4 screws for each one when you take the parking light out take the light out for the corner light all you have to do is just turn it and pull it out
Open the hood up and you will see 4 screws for the grille and you will need to take them out. and there is also a screw right above the bowtie.
Then you will need to take the 4 screws of each headlight and take out the bulbs out
Then just replace them with the other ones and do the opposite of what you just did to put it all back together

I guess the hard part will be taking off the grille guard.

I just want to make a revision to 992Door's instructions; If you're replacing your headlight assembly (housing+lenses) then it's not necessary to remove your grille. After popping your hood, you should see two holes above each headlight with a small hexagonal head. You should be able to loosen them up with a ratchet, then finish and remove them with your fingers. After removing those 4 bolts (2 for each light) the headlight housing should come straight out of the grill.
Are you replacing just your headlights, or your head lights and your turn signals+side markers? If you're replacing your side markers too, after pulling out the headlight housing and the turn signal housing, you should be able to reach inside and feel where and how they are connected; again, break out the ratchet to get those off.
Grill removal isn't necessary.
