I hate to love my Silverado out loud, but....
Just wanted to mention that I have done a few 18 hour drives with the 2011 Silverado Crew Z71 LTZ and I could not be happier with it.
I have had:
1999 Tahoe 2x4 Vortec 350/ 3.73 put 110K miles on. I liked it.
2001 Suburban 2500 4x4 6.0/ 3.73/ 4L80E put 165K miles on. Totaled it or I'd still have it. It could have been featured in "And They Walked Away" That truck was a BEAST. Fast, sturdy, and pretty. I miss it.
2007 Avalanche LTZ 2x4 5.3 Liter Boat Anchor/ Pig/ Turd/ POOCH 3.73/ 4L60E- put 60K miles on. A Hypertech, AiRaid, and Magnaflow didn't even help that gorgeous pig. What a cushy, soft, cream- puff of a fuzzy slipper that nutless sloth was! And no mileage either. 18 on the highway. It must have had two pistons in it upside down. At least my sans-a-belt slacks finally went with one of my trucks.
and now this truck.
THIS 5.3 RUNS! I cannot believe how much nastier the truck seems with the 6 speed auto trans/ 3.42 gear combo. I put a Magnaflow on the stock pipe and it runs great with a cocktail of 87 (with 10% ethanol) and 93 Ethanol Free. My highway mileage is 21-23 (at 71 MPH). My average mileage has never been reset and at 70,000 miles, it is at 18.8.
I love it! It pulls my equipment trailer fine. The cruise on with tow mode rocks in the mountains. I'll probably put 250,000 miles on it before I replace it.
GM is building a good truck these days.
