Default Improving gas mileage

May be interested in CAI and high flow exhaust or other options to improve on the 6.0 fuel mileage. Any thoughts?

The only way I know of to get better MPG's with the 6.0 is to trade it in and get an Aveo.

I've been researching a Blackbear tune on my truck for awhile. All the people I've talked to that have a Blackbear Tune say they consitently have a 2-3 mpg improvement. Some only get 1-2mpg better. I'll be getting one soon. April at the latest and I'll post my results.

A 6.0 is mind over matter. You've got to decide if you don't mind, or if it matters.

Install an aerodynamic fiberglass cap on your bed,@1000-1400$ add @ 3MPG

Install 342 gears,(if you don't already have them)@2000$ add @3MPG

Better plan on keeping the truck for a few years to get your money back in gas savings.

A light foot on the gas pedal will save you more gas$$ than both mods combined.

My K&N CAI gives me great throttle response over the OEM intake (@ 270-$) but gives me no MPG.

My Predator programmer is a great diagnostic tool,(@350$) resets parameters and reads codes, but does nothing for MPG.

Tow haul mode, will get you about a .5 mile improvement in city traffic.
using this mode prevents the transmission from slipping which is used to make for a smoother ride and shifting but also cost a wee bit of gas mileage...

And thou it is not proven fact, the last discussion about tow hall mode is that is should be called performance mode because everyone seems to think the truck/suv is peppier and handles differently....

you judge...

If you know how to adjust parameters yourself and play around with a predator you can get better mileage. Im averaging 23 on my 05 lately. Predator's preset tunes suck.
the 6.0L all the money you spend on mods will not pay itself off for years.
especially if you have a 4.10 ratio. 6.0L / 4l80e seems to have a looser torque converter also. I have gotten 15 out of my 6.0L truck but its all in how you drive it.
When i need gas mileage i drive my car that gets 40mpg, or my bike that gets 60.
