I have been having a issue with rough idling. You can actually see the tach jump a little at times. Truck has a little over 44K. miles.
Which way loosens the plugs clockwise or counter clockwise. Are they in there tight from factory?
Thanks Lee Stroud

I heavy dose of fuel injector cleaner will probably do more to smooth out the idle then a new set of plugs.
And it is CCW to remove each plug of course.

you could have a defective plug, but before I changed plugsI would give truck a couple of cans of seafoam, (one per tank) see if that helps.
Also change gas stations, try Shell or other well know brand. some of the gas companies use additives that hurt mileage and performance, but meet EPA stds.
Good luck and let us know what fixed the problem.
Be sure to use proper AC Delco plugs, if you do replace plugs, not some off brand plug, they can cause sensors to go crazy.

To make it easier next time, put a dab of anti-seeze on the threads of the new spark plugs when you put them in.
And definatly only use Ac Delco. Autolites are for Ford's, they like to run off of crappy parts like that. haha

Just did the change on my 04-6.0LQ4 at 57k miles. Do it with engine cold, direction CCW. And dont believe that 100k tripe from Chevy, either, mine were getting ready to melt right off the side of the engine. Be sure to use AC Delco replacements.

I just changed the plugs on my silverado. Clockwise tightens and Counter-Clockwise loosens. My engine was having problems around idle, with the tach jumping around and the engine killing if it was in gear. I went back an tightened all of the plugs and made sure the wires were on tight and the problem was solved. A torque wrench helps witht tightening the plugs but is not necessary, and they are not too expensive(20-50 dollars).
