Default scan tool

Any one have knowlege of Harbor Frieghts Scan tools? What scan tool do I need for 2004 and 2005 Silverados. Thanks.

they don't do much. I think they just pull the code and they give you a book to look the code up in. Any scan tool for a obd 2 system will work. That should be any scan tool.

I have the Actron CP9180 Auto scanner, its pretty nice and gives real time data that you can print out as well as several module checks such as EVAP and O2 sensors, it also reads codes and gives a description of what the code is..
You can leave it hooked up to capture real time data while driving and also capture trigger data at the first sign of a pending code..

As for the Harbor fright ones pretty much what LARIDERS said they read/erase the codes and you look up the code on the web...
Any halfway shade tree should have at least the reader...
remember thou just having the code doesn't always mean the code is the problem, its just what the ECM flagged.

When in doubt, clear it out...(but write it down first)
