Default need to replace engine in 95 c1500 4x4

I have a bad engine and need to replace it, I found a used 5,7 with 80k on it, it is out of a 97 Suburban that was rear ended.

Will it fit???

question is, is the 95 a vortec motor or throttle body motor? the 97 will be a vortec, which uses different computer and harness. 95 was a changeover year. find out which motor is in the 95. or if unsure, what is the 8th character of the VIN of the 95 truck? K is throttle body, R is vortec

95 is the tbi, you can use the 97 motor, just have to reuse all of the 95's sensors, intake manifold, distributor, and tbi and throw them on the vortec motor.

Ok, now I am beginning to understand, the 8th character is a K on my truck on the VIN, so that means I can not use this 97 motor!

Thank you for the answer!

I don't know what TBI means unless it means throttle bottle Intake but you say I can use the 97 as long as I use the sensors that are on it now, that will be great as I have all those, I won't have any problems with computer??? will I???

Thank you for the quick reply

TBI is throttle body injection. The ecm/pcm should be good to go with your model/end devices.

you have to use the 95's sensors and wiring along with it's intake manifold, distributor, and throttle body. do it that way and the computer won't know the difference between motors

tbi intake will not work on vortec heads.

only difference between the intake bolt pattern is vortec manifolds don't have the 2 center mounting holes on each side. my buddy did the exact swap on his 95 and just bolted the outer bolts on and had no problems, no gasket leaks nothing
