My 97 silverado been overheating. I replaced the waterpump a couple months ago it was good for a while but now it's getting hot. I already replaced the thermostat and it's still happening. There is no liquid coming from the weepholes but could the waterpump be bad anyway ?

Could be it is made by man and could be defective. Is the radiator full? Any other leaks?

Radiator may be clogged inside or the fin area is full of bugs, dirt etc. Either try a flush or have it check by a Rad shop or buy a new one at Radiator Express or other dealers.

temp is up and down, it usually is about 210 but now only about 150. Fluid rushed into the reserve the other day when my gf drove it and it went to about 250. I see no oil in coolant and no bubbling in rad so I don't think its a head gasket leak

if it heats up on the HWY or pulling steep grades most likely the radiator is restricted - if it heats up around town could be the fan clutch

New belt and a radiator flush and it's still not right. It's not overheating but the temp is lower than the 200-210it usually.

I'm gonna take it for a longer ride today to see how hot it gets

How do you diagnose a bad fan clutch ?

I just noticed the lower radiator hose barely gets warm after running it for a while, but the upper is pretty hot. Maybe that's not a big deal

If I remember correctly the water flows from the top to the bottom of the engine.

When you park the vehicle after it has ran and gotten warm does it push any coolant back into the overflow jug?

The only fan clutches I have seen gone bad wobbled so badly they looked like a butterfly dancing round. Do you have a complete fan shroud right?
