- offset pushes it out, + brings em in. Do you want them to stick out or even with the fenders?

It doesn't really matter to me, I just want them to work with 17 inch rims and a 6 inch lift without hurting anything

With that setup do I just go with the factory offset?

If the truck has even a decent paint job i wouldnt push them out past the fenders the older trucks can sling mud and rocks anywhere on it roof hood in the windows nothing is safe. and if you deal with snow or narrow roads the offsets also suck in snow you get pulled everywhere because you dont match up with anyone elses tracks and the roads i hunt on you cant get much more then a full sized stock truck trough. But if you dont care about paint and you doalot of highway driving the offsets are nice it makes the wheel base wider which means more stable. and more often then not pushing them out a bit makes them look better then a normal offset. more beefy instead of a been stock
