Default Kill switch installation

Hey everyone I’m new to this forum and new to Chevy all together. I bought my grandfather’s 2005 Silverado 1500 z71 4x4 with the 5.3L. I am looking at installing a kill switch for added theft protection since I live in an apartment. Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheapest way to go, is with your battery connected to a solenoid switch, but you would lose all your settings. A switch to disable the ignition would be much better in that regard, or a fuel cut-off switch, but that might allow vehicle thieves to operate your vehicle, but with fuel injection they'd not get very far, as they would in a carburetored vehicle with the float bowl's fuel of gasoline.
