Opinions: 2014 Silverado
Hello all.
I've been a Mopar person my whole life (with the exception of one vehicle), and so has my family. But the latest Silverado's design sparked a debate with me. Within the next couple of years, I plan on replacing my current car with a pickup truck. The one vehicle I did go outside of Mopar for was a 2011 Ford F250 6.7L diesel. Wasn't a bad truck, but I didn't care for Ford's engine/transmission.
I am looking to get honest opinions of a couple of items:
1. How is the new 2014 Silverado doing so far?
2. How does the Duramax diesel and Allison transmission work out in the diesels?
I know Chevrolet hasn't updated the HD trucks with the new design yet, but I'm curious to check them out.
Thanks for any input!

The Allison transmission is well-suited for the Duramax diesel. At work, we have some larger trucks (Sterling & Freightliner) that have an Allison automatic tranny mated to a larger Cummins engine........and they seem to hold up well. The trucks have had plenty of issues, but most do not involve the transmission.
I am eager to see the redesign of the HD trucks.
As for the Silverado 1500, I think Chevy did their homework with it. Definitely a beautiful truck inside & out. It saddens me that GM decided to build most of them in Mexico, however, after receiving a huge bailout from the taxpayers.

I've got 3,000 miles on my 2014 LTZ Z71 and I love it! Rides like a Caddy and will tow anything I can hook to it. I'm in North Dakota and love the heated steering wheel. 4X4 is a necessity here and I get almost 20 mpg on trips of 200 miles or more. I expect better when the weather warms up. It was 24 below zero this morning and it fired right up ready to go.
