Rattling noise!
whats up guys....im a newbie here. i just recently purchased a 2005 chevy silverado z71 1500....and everytime i turn the wheel there is a loud rattling noise and the front end of the truck shakes alot....it almost sounds like something is loose. i will note that the size of the tire is 325/60/r20 and it has about a three inch body lift. could it be time for a new suspension system or maybe just smaller wheels and tires?? please help!!!

RE: Rattling noise!
Turning the wheel and it shakes.
#1 check the CV boots on the 4wd.
#2 jack up the front and try to wiggle the wheel by grabbing the top and bottom. If it moves you ball joints are gone (doesn't sound like if the front doesn't shake unless turning.)
#3 Turn the wheel all the way to one side while stopped, and look in the wheel well to see if it's touching anything.
#4 check power steering fluid levels (maybe you broke a line and your pressure it's flucuating.
Do you feel the shake in the floor, the entire truck, or just the steering wheel??

RE: Rattling noise!
Then it could be a pitman or idler arm. Either way, head to your local Midas or other preference garage, and have them check the front.
