What is the best oil to use in a 09 Silverado 5.3?

I'm gonna stop this Amsoil vs Other Synthetics arguement thats about to happen... This subject has been thoroughly canvased in the past and all we were able to come up with was subject to the "opinion of each individual within the arguement".... in otherwords, "use whatever floats your boat."

Go with the "Leading Synthetic 5w30"

Recommend you just pick a fully synthetic motor oil and use it.
Asking here what brand is fruitless.

Consider asking others if they are using a Fumoto oil change valve.

I agree, everyone has thier own personal opinion and it will always be that way, like a few of us have said, just use a full syn and lets leave the brands out of the discussion.

I just had my oil changed last week at the dealer and I ansked them about sythetic. They told me it was a waste of money. Im so confused on this topic? What really is the best way to go and I dont care about brand just conventional VS synthetic

Synthetic blend is a waste of money.
Fully synthetic is worth it though. It will help keep your engine cleaner and reduce wear. Proven fact.

Dealer or not, its just another persons opinion to me. These days the dealers want you to have problems(in a way), so you can waste your money on them Iam not doggin dealers in general, its the people at some of the dealers.

sorry worded wrong I meant fully synthetic. What is the price difference for fully?

Full syn is about twice the price of conventional oil , its worth it to me. I am using RP at the moment simply because I got a quanity discount on it and its a good oil like many others. $65 for oil & K&N oil filter.


Example:
Mobil 1 full syn is about $7-$8 a qt
Conventional Mobil oil is about $3-$4 a qt.

I don't want to start a war here, but let me clarify.

The American Petroleum Institute(API) Certifies oil labeled on bottles and cans for use in engines. It's a little round emblem found on all API certified oil. Be sure to use something certified(SA,SB,SC,SD,SE,SF,SH,etc) AT LEAST "SH" for your car or truck, be it a brand name or KMart oil.

If you're going to use synthetic, use full synthetic and take the extended oil change interval.

Hey, if you prefer to use a good non-synthetic oil, that's great, too.(I've done both.)

They mix(believe it or not) but there's no benefit to doing it.

But you're going to get 500 trolling answers if you insist on making us pick a brand for you.

Most would probably agree going half-synthetic is just additional cost without the benefit.

A thread search will probably turn up a couple of very emotionally charged threads advocating both choices with equal enthusiasm.
