Default Remove 90MPH top speed limitation off of 2008 Silverado

Hello all.

This is my first post on this forum.

I just recently purchased a 2008 Silverado 1500 2WD 1LT ext cab with 5.3L.

I was interested to see if Chevy still limited top speed to 100MPH like my 98 W/T. To my surprise it was 90MPH!!!!!!!!

The truck was still accelerating strong and felt like someone pulled the plug.

My question is HOW do you change that parameter. Do you need a performance chip, do you use HP Tuner software?

Thanks.

With a high axle ratio like 410 or 456, the manufacturer is probably just trying to protect the drivetrain. Assuming you have a 373 or a 342, and you're not redlining your tach, what's the practical purpose of making a pickup truck go over 100MPH? Is there an Autobahn in the US somewheres which I don't know about?

Many jurisdictions add a reckless endangerment or reckless driving summons to your speeding ticket at those velocities, so beware. Word to the wise, radar detectors ain't foolproof protection.

Edge will allow you up to 200mph...of course you will never see that

I know mine will pull like hell to 100mph, then it just seems to crawl after that....
Of course ive got a 2" lift, and 4wd and some goodies....

Sure does make mustangs mad, thats all ive got to say about that.[sm=lildevil.gif]

Edge has a great staff, and you can usually find someone selling them a lot cheaper than new. I like the dash mount to keep track of stuff and the updates are easy.
On the flip side..... it lacks in some areas. You cant adjust for just one thing, like fuel pressure or maping..... it has settings. And a small area for tire size, top speed and acouple other things.
Diablo does alot more..... Im just looking for the same deal I got on the Edge before I buy one.

Of course a custom tune would do more for ya than a handheld programer.
