Default Replace recirc door actuator

I finally figured out the tapping noise is coming from under neath my dash on the passenger side...its the recirc door actuator. My question is, can I replace this with out removing the dash? It is way up there and it looks like I can get one screw out, but the other 2 I cannot see. Any help would be appreciated.

never done one but I think you have to remove the upper dash pad and upper duct work to access the re-circ actuator.

Default actuator trouble

just replaced my recirc door actuator, and now the air only blows out of the defrost vents. I checked the mode actuator by the gas pedal and it does not move at all. Kinda weird that it "coincidentally" is not working now. Could something have reset?

they do need to be calibrated when replaced. not sure if it can be done without a scan tool.
