Ok i was at the local salvage yard today and came across a 90s chevy suburban so as i alsways do i checked the rear diff. and sure enough it had some kind of posi but not sure what kind and just want to know if its any good and to see its worth throwing into my chevy truck and if the $40 price tag was worth it oh and it had a 311 gear ring attached to it any info would be great

My 91 came with a gov-lok (oem) it is most likely what you have found. I am guessing that you ment 4:11's. For $40, I would not pass it up. Mine works great for a limited slip.

damn been doing some research and seems its a G80 gov-lock aka gov-bomb... from some of the pictures and info they seem to explode on there own under stock engines so i think im going to pass on installing this.... so if i was to try and sell it how much u think i could get out of it

New they are pretty expensive. Yeh, I had heard that also but I always believed they were old 70-early 80s units. I have had two and worked them pretty hard and never an issue. I would put it on kraig's list for 150.

Ya after doing some research it was more likely that the older ones would blow or if u got stupid with it, this one looks in really good shape and after checking out the vehicle it came out of it was a 98 chevy 4x4 tahoe 6 lug but a 5 lug axle fit right in so im thinking about using it..

Either way sounds like a come up to me you can use it now hold on to it for later or sell it for 100 bucks and make more than twice the money back. salvage yards are awsome if nothing else hold onto it for later
