Silverado 2003 1500 Transfer Case Leak
Just had diagnosis of a small leak in my transfer case. Was advised that the leak was very small and has probably been there for at least a year. I was also advised NOT to fix right away, but that he would clean it up, and take another look in a month or so. Was advised that the repair job will take 8-10 hours. Can any knowledge based folks out there give me advice on following questions so that I can converse knowingly on this subject?
What causes leaks in transfer case of the Silverado?
What's involved in repair for parts and hours?
While repair is being done, are there any other jobs that could be done during this work project?
Your sage advice and knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Leak could be anything ranging from a broken vent, or seal to a pourous (worn thru) case.
What I can't understand is the quote. A man can totally overhaul one of those birds and have it on the road again in 3 hours.
Ask him where the leak is and we could give you a somewhat better assessment. :>)

Thanks Much
I appreciate your solid feedback.
Will do..
Perhaps the suggestion of more hours was nothing more than the introduction of a "bend me over package" !!
Happy New Year.
