Speedometer buffer
I have a 1989 Silverado K1500, 5 speed. I have the 20" Silverado SS rims from a 2005 Silverado on it. I purchased a buffer to correct the speedometer because with the new wheel/tire combination, it was reading way slow. Anyway now I can't find the buffer in the truck. I know on the early 90s it is behind the glovebox, but not on my 89. Anybody have an idea where it might be located??

Thanks, Allen, for your help. I called the company that I had received the buffer from and they told me that it is in the cluster. To calibrate the speedometer, I have to send them my cluster.

Yep,
That's kind of a process to recalibrate that speedo. Involves a handful of resistors, soldering them in and systematically blowing the ones that don't comply with the ratio parameter.
Easier to send it in and pay their fee.
