I replaced the brake pads and shoes on my sons '95 chevy silverado with 150,000 miles. After we was done the brakes are spongy and the pedal goes down more than before. the pedal was hard and firm before we rebraked it. I have know idea why this is we didnt open the braking system so no air could get in. This is the first time i adjusted rear brakes, if i didnt get them adjusted out far enough could this cause the problem? I appriciate any input. Thanks

Improper rear brake adjustment can defiantly cause your problem

I also am having some brake issues. Changed mine today, became spongy, still pulls to the right when brakes are applied. I have hit 3 cars and a boulder be wise my rear brakes were not adjusted. I adjusted them and it helps a little. I here you should check main cylinder if spongy. For pulling is prolly opposite line or speed sensor.

Yes. My suggestion (I assume these are self adjusting) Adjust the shoes till you have slight resistance. Back the car while intermittently tapping the brake pedal.

I have the same problem with my 03 silverado. You could try bleeding them. I did it with my truck and it did not help. I am wondering if it is because of the disk rear brakes. I guess that is why they only installed them for a short time.
