Steering issues...Help
I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 pickup it is making a noise when I am turning. It makes more noise when I turn left rather than right? What could it be? My power steering fluid level was a little low but I added some and my level is fine?
Thanks

I agree with Grumpychevy, If its a clunking you feel in the steering wheel when you turn the intermediate shaft is seized. The dealer will remove it, grease it and put it back in. Take my advice, I had this done once and it lasted for about 6 months. There is an updated intermediate shaft, It was just under $400.00 for the repair but it has been fine now for the last 6 years. The dealer was not aware of the updated shaft when I called them, I found the info on line and had them order the new shaft.

I bought and installed the new intermediate steering shaft from Napa for about $70 and it took me less than 1 hour to change with only a few hand tools. This is not a hard job to do. Next to jamming myself up under the dash, the hardest part is getting the seal around the shaft back on the firewall and sealed back up.
