Tires question 1990 Silverado 4WD XCab
Its time for inspection and new tires. I bought this truck from my dad and have spent a ton doing a full resto. The truck cam from the factory with 245/75R16s. Every internet source (tirerack.com etc) says the standaard tires for this truck are 225/75R16 and the 245s are the optional upgrade.
So far - no problem - Pop wanted the bigger tires since he towed and hauled with it. I bought that truck back in 2000 and have continued putting 245s on it always with load range E since I haul coal and logs to heat my home.
Earlier today for the first time since I owned the truck I noticed the factory sticker on the end of the drivers side door and actually looked at it.
It clearly says this truck is spec'd for 265/75R16 tires.
What I don't understand is how every internet tires seller's website says the same thing - that this trucks takes 225 standard and 245 as optional but the door sticker says 265 ??
So now the question is - should I be running 265s on the truck?
I have beefed up the suspension considerably and I do haul very heavy on the truck.
