Default Transfer Case Leak

I've got a leak on the passenger side of my Transfer case... How hard is it to drop the case and pull it apart?? I was just under the truck and it looks like you have to drop the torsion bars to get the case out. Is it possible to just crack the case with the front half still attached to the tranny and RTV the case while its still on the truck or do I have to completely remove it? Any help would be appreciated.

Default RE: Transfer Case Leak

I haven't done this to a silverado, but you should be able to take the case lose and turn it to get it out if the torsion bars are in the way, you will have to pull it back to do this. It will be kinda heavy but you can do it by your self. I would suggest taking it out. As far as taking the case apart I don't know, I have only replaced them, But I will say you will be able to get it cleaner when it is out, and you will get a better seal this way.
