Default Keyless entry

Hello All. Just found this forum and it is a wealth of info. I just purchased a 2008 Silverado WT with power locks. I assumed it had keyless entry, but it did not. Can the dealer retrofit keyless entry?

Welcome to the forum!!! They should be able to do it but they will want to charge you an arm and a leg to do it.

I also have an 08 WT with power locks and I asked my dealer if they could put the keyless on there when I got it and they said that the WT isn't programmable for it, but you can go get an aftermarket keyless or security system and it will work.....that's what I did.

It's a CrimeStopper brand security system, I'm pretty sure it's a 2000 series. I am very pleased with it, you can set it to different sesitivities for your personal liking and can be so sensitive that if someone gets within a few inches of the vehicle it will go off. It cost me about $300. If you want just the keyless entry though it will probably cost about $150ish.

Some vehicles can of the assembly plant with out the Reciever it needs to make GM OE keyless work. They all have a reciever even the entry level (non power lock/windows). The reciever is for the Tire pressure monitors (government mandated). You can add a aftermarket keyless or alarm upgrade. If you want more info pm or email and I will give you more info.

Charlie,
Thanks for the info. I finally contacted the dealer and they said on my 2008 WT it could be done, $225 installed.
